Descriptions

Join us for an adventure in the San Juan Islands aboard the 100-foot Victoria Star 2! Our tour departs from the charming Fairhaven Historic District in Bellingham at 9:30 am. This San Juan Adventure cruise includes a narrated tour of the San Juan Islands, whale watching, a 2-hour shore visit in Friday Harbor and dinner in the evening.

As we make our way towards the prime whale watching waters, our captain will talk about the history of the San Juan Islands, as well as the fascinating geological features of the area. We will also keep our eyes open for sightings of bald eagles, seals, Dals porpoises, Minke whales and other fascinating sea life.

As part of the largest local whale spotting network, we are able to find Orca whales about 80-90% of the time each season. We have time in our schedule to stop and watch them, or follow them as they quickly travel through these pristine waters. Our captain will help identify which whales we are watching - usually it's a group from amongst the 90 Orcas that live in the region year-round, but occasionally we will find a group of transient Orcas passing through the area. Sometimes, especially early and late in the season, we may spot Humpbacks and Gray whales as well.

Our day tour includes a 2 hour shore visit in the quaint town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, the largest town in the islands. Once there you will have a chance to stroll amonst the many shops and artist galleries, visit the Friday Harbor Whale Museum, have a pint at one of the local brewpubs, or just find a quiet bench in town and watch the hustle & bustle.

On our cruise back to Bellingham we'll server our delicious, all-you-can-eat Northwest salmon and chicken buffet dinner. Our vessel offers full bar service, with a variety of Pacific Northwest wines and beers, well drinks and unique cocktails, coffee and espresso, and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages. We have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating - you can enjoy your meal indoors with the magical scenery of the San Juan Islands passing by your window, and top it off with a beverage while basking in the early-evening sun on one of our outside decks.

Conveniently located at the Alaska Ferry Terminal in Bellingham, just 2 miles west of Exit 250 on Interstate 5. We offer family-friendly pricing, with discounted rates for youth (ages 13 - 20), children (ages 3-12), and AAA members. Daily departures (May 27 - September 5) and Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays (May 6 - May 22 and September 9 - 25). Dedicated to responsible wildlife viewing in the San Juan Islands since 1987.

How You Can Help

Every one of us can make a difference. Pollution and lack of suitable food are the major factors that are threatening the Southern Resident Orca Whales.

Cleaning up the environment in which they live will not only promote their survival, but will benefit the entire ecosystem. There are many ways that you can help, and we hope that you do.
